Kitemallorca.C.B is the kitesurf, windsurf, surf and sailing school in Mallorca.

Registered in the National Register of Nautic Schools, on the Direccion General de Transporte Aereo y Maritimo, branch of the Ministery of Transport By Air and Sea, compulsory register in the spanish territory to all legal nautic schools, and first necessary step to create an authorized kitesurfing and windsurfing school.

Kitesurfing, windsurfing, surf and sailing courses are led by qualified instructors by the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, in the different areas of the sport, only valid qualifications in our country, and our school fulfills all legal requirements for teaching all the above mentioned nautic sports.

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL'S LOCATION AND OTHER IMPORTANT FACTS TO CONSIDER

In Pollensa Bay, on the location of our school; due to the shape of our bay, we enjoy shallow, mostly, calm waters, with very little chop, and perfect constant breezes, in fact, the ideal learning conditions; and our school it is situated in the area of the Bay, close to Puerto de Pollensa, sheltered from the predominant NE and E winds, better known as "embat" in the local's languaje, which generally blows during the summer months, making the middle of the bay, which is the area in which most of private kiters gather, a rather choppy area.

To this disadvantage, we have to add the fact of being obliged to share the spot with many other riders, which, as consequence of the almost constant onshore wind direction, this, forces all kitesurfers and windsurfers who chose this spot, to navigate in tracks which run parallel to the beach, which often provoque lines crossing and also, we must consider that there, are many inexpert and begginer kiters that are unable to get upwind, reason, which consequently gets them downwinded and therefore, forced to walk back to reach the point in where they started their ride, with their kites over the road, which is next to the spot. Considering that fact, we have always to extreme the precautions and procure to have our riders or upwind from kiter's masification, if out level or riding allowe us that, or downwind from it, and respecting the "preferences of way" which can be found on NOVEDADES

Kite, windsurfing, surfing and sailing, are sports that doesn't requires an exceptional strengh or any special physical condition, to learn this nautic sports is open indistinctly to girls, boys or adults, to anyone from 7 to 80 years of age.

PRICES OF KITESURF, WINDSURF AND SURFING COURSES

Price of kitesurfing lessons:

Basic A LEVEL, 100 euros per 3 hours, including all equipment, different kites, board, helmet, harness and neoprene, liability and accidents insurance.

You can buy B, and/or C improving and intermediate LEVELS, of 3 hours of duration for 100 euros each, if you wish a more complete tuition, in order get the best of your time on the water, to keep your practices monitorized by our proffesional staff.

Stretching is the bridge between a sedentary and an active life.

Thanks to stretching we can keep muscles flexible and prepare them for movement. It is vital in warming up, physical education, training, muscle strengthening, gymnastics, and for any physical activity in general.

AFTER YOUR KITE COURSE

Your begginers pack after your kite lessons should consist of:

1) Liability Insurance.

2) Anemometer. Imperative to know how strong the wind is and if it's in the range of your kite.

3) Kite. Find out what are the most frequent winds in your area and their intensity, use the kite size according to your weight.

4) Board. If your board it's medium or large size, instead of a small board, this will certainly improve your progress.

5) Harness. Buy the one that makes you feel more comfortable.

6) Vest. The main reason to have a vest is that they give you buoyancy and also protects your ribs.

7) Helmet. It's very important in all cases but specially in zones franked by rocks or in areas of not much depth.

8) Booties. Are recommended if your area is rocky, also to avoid getting hurted on the feet by pebbles, seaweed, spider fish.

9) Neoprene. It helps you to keep your body temperature and also protect you against jellyfish or other abrasions.

NAVIGATION RULES

Respecting a few priority rules, universally recognized, sometimes ignored, most times by ignorance, and on occasions, because forgetfulness or selfishness, we can prevent accidents, both on the beach and, especially, in the water. Try to remember that rules at all times.

First rule ... The person who goes sailing from the beach have right of way over who is sailing in the direction of sea-beach; the reason of it: the wind is usually more gusty when we are near the shore tan when we are at a certain distance, so that the one that begins his navigation from the beach is more exposed and at that disadvantage with respect to the one that is coming towards the beach and well powered, therefore, he has priority.

Second rule ... The one that receives the wind from his right, that is, his front hand on the bar is the right hand, has priority. When two sailors are in crossing paths, the one receiving the wind from the left, should low the kite for anyone coming in the opposite direction who has the right hand in front, he can continue its course without having to move up or down the kite.

Third rule ... If we are reaching another kiter from behind, we must give priority to who we are overtaking, because since we have a global vision behind but the other kiter has not, the kiter overtaked has priority, so that we must fall downwind of him to overtake him without being affected by our maneuver.

Fourth rule .... The kiter who is upwind of another kiter kite should rise his kite while the downwind kiter must lower it to avoid both that kites meet in the air.

Fifth rule .... The kiter who has been surfing a wave has right of way on which this jumping or coming in the opposite direction, as long as that is not crossing into the water, since on that case applies rule number 1.

Sixth rule ..... The kiter who jumps must have a free area of 50 meters in front of if and 30 meters downwind, without anyone coming after him with lines that could entangle because of his maneuver.

Seventh rule ... Any other boat takes precedence in the water over a kiter, always fall downwind of all.

Eighth rule .... And the last rule and perhaps the most important, if in doubt, and even if you're the one who has the preference, if you do not see clear, always take the necessary step avoids situations. Let's then, common sense, usually the least common of the senses, unfortunately, predominate.

It is advisable to read the eight rules carefully until fully understood and clearly remember at all times. You have to think that when we are in the water, sailing among other riders, one of these situations can suddenly occur and always we have to make useof that rules to avoid further problems.

As a last suggestion, again, be generous, it is always possible to avoid a conflict situation if we react in advance, especially when there are many people in the water, or space is limited (because of the waves that close off) or are novices practicing and do not control well.

WINDSURFING SCHOOL

Windsurf courses are of 5 hours of duration and the cost is 100 euros, including boards, sails, neoprene, liablity and accidents insurance.

As, during the summer months, the "embat", wind that is caused by the warming of the land, creating an air flow that runs sea/land direction, starts to blow in the moment that the land temperature gets high enough to provoque this effect, it is better to start with the windsurfing lessons at 10 am, because at around noon, the wind direction will often turn onshore, creating a small chop that will difficult to keep our balance, especially on the early stages of the courses

SURFING SCHOOL

Surf lessons are of 3 hours duration and the cost is 60 euros including board, leash, neoprene and insurances, rentals are also available.
